Many times you have heard about Sildenafil or as we now know it, the Blue Pill. This drug has been around for over a decade and marked a new area of sexuality, which can be compared to the Sexual Revolution of the 20th century. Why is that? Because there was no effective remedy for erectile dysfunction until viagra has been invented and men having that condition were left with no possibilities to overcome their problems and had to suffer in silence. But with the advent of the new drug, things have changed drastically. Erectile dysfunction has become the topic for public discussion and was openly spoken about in newspapers, magazines and on national TV. The problem, which people were unaware of before, has surfaced and shown its real proportions, which were really impressive.

Almost all men experience erection problems every now and then and there’s nothing to worry about. But if the problem persists over a period of time and there are no improvements, this is the case of erectile dysfunction. And research have found that practically all men experience erectile dysfunction at a certain point of their lives, and this doesn’t mean only late adulthood as younger men were also reported to experience the problem. These results were quite shocking as there are millions and millions of men over the world who suffer from a condition that could not be cured before. Of course, there were numerous natural remedies, herbal solutions, drugs that boosted sexual performance and even special surgeries that ensured mechanical erection. But it was never as effective and convenient as just taking one single pill and enjoying the pleasure of intimacy to the max.

Viagra has changed that situation dramatically by being the first orally administered drug that was observed to help in almost all cases of erectile dysfunction, bringing back the joy of sex and lovemaking to men, some of which have already forgot how it should be done. It was approved for treating erectile dysfunction in 1998 and after that it simply exploded the whole pharmaceutical market, creating a niche of its own and bringing its developers (Pfizer) so much money that its competitors can’t even reach today if combined. Men all over the world started to buy Viagra because there were no alternatives and it really helped. Having a global market where you are the single player is a great advantage for any product, and the Blue Pill was just lucky to be that very magical remedy that men across the globe were waiting for ages.

Of course, similar products from different manufacturers followed a few years later, some of them being more advanced than the pioneer of ED treatment. But still, men choose to buy Viagra at numerous online pharmacies because they know it will help them. People already know what the drug is capable of doing and the fact that it’s sold practically all over the world makes it simply the best ED medication on the planet, no matter how hard the competitors try to rival that position.

There is a lot of anxiety among our society concerning the Swine Flu. It wouldn’t be my personal preference to catch the illness because it seems to give a hard swift punishment to the victim. This strain can carry morph into any one of the three strains of influenza. Pigs do carry influenza viruses and can adapt or morph in humans. The swine flu can also change to infect birds, causing the strain to switch genes and create a pandemic.

Like any type of new illness there are precautions people can take to prevent infection and the spread of the Swine Flu. It natural for people to cough directly into their hands. All the germs coming from the reparatory system are transported from the internal body and passed along to places, like car keys, door knobs, drinking fountains, and door handles. This can devastate the main population if one is carrying the actual Swine Flu. Create a habit of coughing into your shoulder or into your arm to minimize the spread of all germs and not just the Swine Flu.

At night it would be favorable to spray Lysol spray on light switches, toilet seats, toilet handles, freezer and fridge handles to kill the Swine flu and other bacteria. Lysol is a powerful deterrent to assist in the spread of germs, and illness. Pump bottles of hand sanitizer will help kill the germs on the surface of the skin and can assist in preventing the spread of the Swine flu. But there is a more advanced and preferred method to preventing the spread of Swine Flu.

We have been taught from an early age to wash our hands. Many take for granted the hand washing philosophy. The truth is that Lysol, hand sanitizer, coughing into the arm are all good ways but a good solid deep hand wash is the number one method for preventing the spread of germs. Hand sanitizer, and Lysol only kill the surface of where these items are applied. A deep hand wash bypasses the surface of the skin and really digs down to the grooves and pits of the hand. Ridges within the hand can be microscopic and hard to get reach for the Lysol, and hand sanitizer. A good hefty dose of liquid soap will grind down to the microscopic ridges and pours in the hand and do real damage to destroy the Swine Flu.

I felt it was only appropriate to put something up in response to all the coverage of the recent Swine Flu outbreak. Pigs are getting a bad rap on this one. Though rare in humans, individuals with greater exposure to swine could contract swine influenza if the swine are carrying the particular rare strain of the SIV that is capable of affecting humans. Even then, it is a rare occurrence for the strain to be able to pass from human to human. This could occur if the SIV is able to mutate into a form that can be easily transmitted among humans.

The swine flu outbreak of 2009 is believed to be caused by such a mutated strain of the SIV. The current outbreak is called swine flu only because one of the surface proteins of the tested virus is similar to the one which infects pigs. It is still unknown if this is currently infecting pigs though it’s clearly spreading among people, leading the World Health Organization to raise the Phase 4 pandemic alert. This new strain responsible for the outbreak has been found to be a re-assortment of strains of the influenza A virus subtype H1N1. These strains are separately endemic in humans and in swine.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir) would help in treatment and prevention. Antiviral drugs, if started within two days of the manifestation of symptoms, succeed in reducing the severity of the symptoms, preventing further complications, and hastening cure. The most effective method of prevention is to wash hands frequently with soap or with a foam or alcohol-based gel hand wash that helps wipe away bacteria and viruses. Vaccines against the 2009 H1N1 strain outbreak are in the development stage and are expected to be ready by June 2009.

Swine influenza – Swine influenza or swine flu is a respiratory disease in pigs caused by the type A H1N1 swine influenza virus (SIV). Humans in close proximity to swine could contract swine influenza if the swine are carrying the rare strain of the SIV that is capable of affecting humans.

Symptoms – Swine flu symptoms in humans are generally similar to regular flu (influenza) symptoms and include muscle pain, runny nose, sore throat, cough, headache, lack of appetite, fever, chills, and general weakness and discomfort. Other reported symptoms are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Transmission – Swine flu spreads from pigs to humans when humans are close to infected pigs. People working in barns or visiting livestock exhibits housing infected pigs are likely to get affected. Transmission from humans to humans can occur when the infected individual coughs or sneezes when others are close by. Putting one’s hands to the nose or mouth after touching anything with the flu viruses on it could also spread the infection. Consuming well-cooked pork and pork products won’t cause infection as cooking to an internal temperature of 160F kills bacteria and viruses, including the swine flu virus.

Treatment and medication – While swine flu can generally be cured by the four antiviral drugs approved for curing flu in the US, amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir, the recent 2009 swine flu outbreak viruses have been found to be resistant to the first two drugs. Oseltamivir and zanamivir are now recommended for treatment and prevention of swine influenza.

Prevention – Swine flu can be prevented by taking certain precautionary measures, such as washing hands frequently with soap or an alcohol-based hand wash. Staying away from infected individuals is important as their coughing or sneezing could spread the infection. If instances of infection are reported in your locality, stay indoors as far as possible. Swine flue vaccine could be out by June 2009.

Medical experts watching the Swine Flu tell us that once the flu is detected in an area, the entire community can be QUARANTINED for 6 to 12 weeks, the normal time for the Swine Flu to run its course, IF no further outbreaks are detected.

The “Swine 90 DAY FOOD SUPPLY” unit is compact enough to fit under most large beds, or stow in a large closet. It’s ideal for homes, apartments, businesses, emergency operation centers, etc.

Being prepared for all types of emergencies should be a priority for everyone in the U.S. With more threats than ever before, we know that any number of events can be right around the corner. But lately its completely understandable that many of us probably have our mind on economic worries at the very least. But knowing what we do know about the swine Flu break out, it might be a good time for us to consider investing in our own safety just in case.

As of now there are over 1,000 deaths in the country of Mexico. Granted we are not Mexico, and we do have an outstanding heads up on the current situation, that doesnt mean that we shouldnt take precaution anyways.

But a bigger point can be made – We should be ready for any other crisis that could happen, even if the Swine Flu stays contained.

Swine Flu preparation should be just one state of preparation we should be concerned with. I would say that this Swine Flu problem should be at the least, a wake up call. Preparing for this could end up saving us in the future. If we take action now, and nothing too serious comes of the Swine Flu virus, than we will still be prepared for any future occurences that could happen.

But just because we have caught this virus earlier than Mexico, doesnt mean its going to be O.K. Honestly, we are right nesxt door to the country, and we havnt done a great job of keeping Mexican immigrants out of our country in the past. And it only takes 1 unknowing victim to spread the Swine Flu virus to a large group of unsuspecting colleagues , classmates, or total strangers in a supermarket.

I am definitely not trying to be someone that tries to scare people, but whenever a society takes something like this too lightly , things can spiral out of control in the blink of an eye. It is our responsibility to take stock of situations like these and make honest assesments.

In the coming weeks we will know for sure if the Swine Flu will become epidemic, pandemic, or nothing more than a slight outbreak. I hope that its the latter. But I really hope that we are all prepared for anything and everything.

Can a tsunami strike the coast of New Jersey, North Carolina, or Florida? The question crossed my mind as I was doing research for my action/adventure novel TSUNAMI, even though the book is set in the Pacific.

The answer is yes, a tsunami hitting the Atlantic Coast is possible, but much less likely than one striking Alaska, Hawaii, or the Pacific Northwest. When it comes to the kinds of natural events that start tsunamis — undersea earthquakes, submarine landslides, and volcano eruptions — the Atlantic is a much tamer ocean than the Pacific. The Pacific basin is encircled by the notorious Ring of Fire with its hundreds of active volcanoes and dozens of dangerous, earthquake-prone subduction zones. The Atlantic has far fewer geological areas capable of posing a genuine tsunami threat. But there are some, and they should be taken seriously.

The one most talked about is the Cumbre Vieja volcano in the Canary Islands, 3000 miles from Boston and 3700 miles from Miami. In 1949, a flank of the volcano split off, creating a 3-ft. rift, the flank sliding down 3 feet toward the ocean before it stabilized. Earthquakes and a buildup of pressure inside the volcano were associated with the event. The concern is that another earthquake or eruption could dislodge the entire flank and send as much as 300 cubic miles of debris plunging into the ocean. One school of thought suggests that such a monster landslide would start a tsunami capable of reaching the eastern seaboard of the United States 5 or 6 hours later.

Even if such an event were to happen, many geologists dispute the notion that it would send a killer tsunami smashing into the East Coast of the U.S. The height of the initial wave would be enormous, but the length between waves would be relatively short, meaning its ability to maintain its energy while travelling long distances would be minimized. Undersea earthquake-generated tsunamis typically have long wavelengths, or distance between waves in the train, and can travel long distances without significant loss of energy. In contrast, landslide-initiated tsunamis tend to have short wavelengths and are usually confined to local areas where they can be highly destructive. In 1883, the Krakatau eruption dumped millions of tons of debris into the ocean and started a 135-ft. tsunami that did incredible damage to Sumatra and neighboring islands but did not affect other areas.

To sum it up, there are two points of view. One maintains the collapse of a chunk of Cumbre Vieja into the ocean could endanger the Atlantic Coast of the U.S. with a major tsunami, while the other view holds that the dynamics of wave formation make such a result unlikely.

The only true subduction zone close to the East Coast is the Puerto Rico Trench, which runs for 1000 miles from Puerto Rico eastward past the Lesser Antilles and out into the Atlantic Ocean. The deepest point in the Atlantic at 28,200 feet lies in The Puerto Rico Trench. Along this trench, the Caribbean tectonic plate is subducting, or sliding under, the North American Plate. This is not as large or active a subduction zone as most of those in the Pacific, but undersea earthquakes have occurred there, resulting in tsunamis that affected the islands in the Caribbean. The last tsunami in the area happened in 1918 when 32 people died in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Mt. Pelee on Martinique is one of several active volcanoes in the Lesser Antilles arc. The 1902 eruption of Mt. Pelee is one of the largest on record. It is possible that volcanic debris from future eruptions could crash into the ocean and start a localized tsunami.

Submarine landslides at the edge of the continental shelf along the Atlantic Seaboard might also start tsunamis that could impact coastal cities. In 1929, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake off Newfoundland started an undersea landslide down the continental shelf. The resulting tsunami swept ashore and killed 8 people.

The Atlantic Tsunami Warning System was installed in 2006, comprising five Deep Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (acronym DART) buoy stations. Single stations are located off Charleston, Miami, and New Orleans. Two are positioned off Puerto Rico near the Puerto Rico Trench. All provide real time detection of undersea disturbances capable of starting tsunamis that could impact the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf Coasts. Plans call for the addition of at least two more DART stations.

If you live in a low-lying area on the Atlantic Coast, be aware that a tsunami is always a possibility, and be prepared to evacuate on a moment’s notice as directed by local authorities.

The emergency response efforts to the earthquake that hit the Indonesian island of Sumatra is shifting to recovery and rebuilding efforts. More than a thousand people died in the quake and hundreds more are missing. Over 180000 buildings were severely damaged or destroyed. The clean up process is already beginning and earthquake survivors are assessing how or if they will rebuild.
There are two different views of volcanoes. Some people see it as a thing of beauty, traveling around the world just to witness volcanic eruptions. Many others see volcanoes as a disaster waiting to happen. A volcano is a mountain that opens downloads to a pool of molten rock beneath the earth. Eruptions occur when there a build up in pressure inside a volcano, causing gas and rock to shoot up through the opening and spill over.

Volcanic eruptions however come in many different ways. Volcanic eruptions around the world have also taken many lives and caused billions of dollars worth of damage. Some are on a large scale while others occur on a much milder scale, like the volcanoes in Hawaii. Super-volcanoes are large but infrequent volcanoes such as Lake Toba.

Lake Toba lies in the northern part of the Indonesian island of Sumatra in South East Asia. It is one of the largest natural features of the Southern hemisphere and is clearly visible from space. Popular as one of the tourist landmarks in Indonesia, this 100 km long and 30 km wide lake, is also home to terrifying mystery- a mystery that lurked undiscovered for millennia. Miles beneath the placid surface of Lake Toba lies the cause of one of the greatest natural disasters ever, more powerful than anything else on earth.

The eruption occurred millions of years ago, and some scientist even believe that the eruption may have even killed millions. However, what’s really scary is that it could happen again! Beneath Lake Toba, the subduction zone is still clashing, bringing the possibility that the magma chamber could still come alive. With one hundred times as many people on earth as when it first erupted, the effects on the world would be catastrophic should it erupt again. Food resources, climate and water availability would all be affected.

Volcanic eruptions sometimes also occur unexpectedly and when nobody is prepared for it. The slumbering volcanic peak of Mount St Helens in Washington is one of America’s most beautiful national forests and a magnet for vacationers seeking the great outdoors. However, on 18 May, 1980, the volcano erupted without warning. Within just four minutes, the blast flattened 570 square kilometers, taking the lives of 57 people. The final cost of the disaster was an estimated one billion dollars, but the toll on those affected is impossible to calculate. Why did it take everyone surprise and why did nobody predict such as a catastrophic eruptions?

The Mount St Helens eruption was seen as a wake up call for volcanology. Scientists now understand how dramatically super-volcanoes can affect life on earth and they are racing to map out the lifecycle of this terrifying natural phenomenon and attempt to predict the next eruption, particularly for super-volcanoes like Lake Toba.

We are all vulnerable should another super-volcano come to life. How many will perish the next time a super-volcano erupts? How much destruction would it cause? What effect will it have on nature? How will it affect us?

The swine flu is the thing what we are mostly discussed in these days and most of the people are really interested to get knowing what this is. According to the scientific explanation, swine flu is a virus which was originated with the swine and now it has spread to the humans also. They have named this virus as Swine influenza (H1-N1) and still remain as a critical virus category. Because of that, still there are not vaccines in order to prevent from the infection and the only thing we can do is control the spread of it.

If you are really interest and concern on stopping the spread, then there few basic things you can follow through. As an example, it is always better to cover up your nose and mouth while you’re sneezing and when going near to a person who is sneezing or coughing, the reason is that this virus can be spread through the air and you need to take all possible precautions to stop it.

Also if you are feeling not well and sick, then it is always better to get the immediate medical attention as it can be the beginning of the swine flu. Since it is the beginning, the doctors can do some little more in order to keep your situation under control till they find a proper solution for the virus.

However the doctors has identified that there are no specific symptoms for this swine virus and the symptoms are same as normal flu. So if you are having heavy headache, fever , chilling, body ache, vomiting, diarrhea and any other symptom with relevant to the normal flue, it is always recommended to get medical attention and try to cover up your mouth & nose always. So it will be a great help to prevent the virus being spread.

Since this virus is originated with the swine, the doctors and scientists are still doing their investigations in order to find a proper cure for the virus. So the state government has given the full support for this process as they have understood the gravity of the situation.

Also most of the meat processors have stopped producing pork due to this situation and the market also refusing pork. So it is a good point to avoid the spread of virus and it needs to be controlled accordingly. However the farmers have taken necessary precautions to keep the swine away from the other animals and the foods available at the farm to assure the safety from the swine flu. However by the time of now, few infected people have died due to the swine flu and it is a good point to understand the critical condition of this situation. Because of that, the scientists and the doctors work with their maximum capacity in order to find a proper solution for this critical virus. So the people are awaiting a very good solution in the very near future.

We try to think a bit and return to the past, in 1997, certainly you remember, there have been cases of viruses spread of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) a massive surge of almost all over the world and not a little are already a victim, and finally died, and in 2006 the world is busy again with the emergence of bird flu virus that has been eating the victim approximately 50 million of them children and adults, which is really the issue be pitied, the WHO still does not work can be maximal, because almost every years it appears the new virus-the virus.

My own analysis so whether this is the work of scientists who are doing testing to make a virus that can be created for the tool in the war, or this is exactly the virus spread because of its poor people to maintain their cleanliness, I invite all to people who read my content, let us all unite to fight new viruses appear each year and start to learn to maintain a clean living.

Everybody knows that smoking or cigarette is not a good thing. In fact it is really a bad habit and it is very dangerous for some one’s life. But unfortunately not many people could give up smoking easily. It is really hard for smoker to leave even few hours for not smoking! What ashamed isn’t? and worse thing about those who are already very addicted with cigarette that they prefer not to have money rather than not having cigarette. They prefer to spend money rather than keeping it for not buying cigarette and another terrible one is that, when people warn them that this cigarette could take their life, they even said; this cigarette would even keep them alive!! Well.. really pitiful. But this cigarette mania does not realize that. They do not mind or they just do not care about all of those risk. They call the poisons in cigarette as a sweet poison. What actually make this cigarette or smoking habit dangerous for your health is because the nicotine! When that smoker inhales cigarette, the nicotine would rapidly absorbed into their blood and begin to affect the brain within few seconds and it could affect the alertness and enhancing mental performance. Nicotine also increases heart rate and blood pressure and restricts blood flow to the heart muscle. Ironically cigar and pipe smokers that looks much stronger than cigarette is actually only have lower death rates compare to cigarette smokers. Those who likes to chew tobacco and snuff have an elevated risk for oral cancer.
