Celebs Can Get Swine Flu Too

Swine flu or swine influenza is a disease common in swine, with normal flu-like symptoms, but caused by any strain of the swine influenza virus (SIV – virus endemic in pigs). Though rare in humans, individuals with greater exposure to swine could contract swine influenza if the swine are carrying the particular rare strain of the SIV that is capable of affecting humans. Even then, it is a rare occurrence for the strain to be able to pass from human to human. This could occur if the SIV is able to mutate into a form that can be easily transmitted among humans.

The swine flu outbreak of 2009 is believed to be caused by such a mutated strain of the SIV. The current outbreak is called swine flu only because one of the surface proteins of the tested virus is similar to the one which infects pigs. It is still unknown if this is currently infecting pigs though it’s clearly spreading among people, leading the World Health Organization to raise the Phase 4 pandemic alert. This new strain responsible for the outbreak has been found to be a re-assortment of strains of the influenza A virus subtype H1N1. These strains are separately endemic in humans and in swine.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir) would help in treatment and prevention. Antiviral drugs, if started within two days of the manifestation of symptoms, succeed in reducing the severity of the symptoms, preventing further complications, and hastening cure. The most effective method of prevention is to wash hands frequently with soap or with a foam or alcohol-based gel hand wash that helps wipe away bacteria and viruses. Vaccines against the 2009 H1N1 strain outbreak are in the development stage and are expected to be ready by June 2009.

  2. Refuse vaccines, they contain aluminum, mercury, MSG, aspartame/formaldehyde, squalene etc that cause diseases such as lupus, arthritus, Gulf War Synrdrome, Guillain-Barre, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, ADD/ADHD, autism, asthma, cancer etc. Now the WHO is pushing for 4.9 billion H1N1 vaccines to be made and used worldwide that may just have nanochips in them.

  4. the CDC has reported 91 cases in the United States. According to WHO, there have been 10 deaths worldwide because of the Swine Flu, and only 1 person here at home in the US.

    Is this reason to panic? Not one bit.
    The regular flu kills somewhere around 175 people each and every day.
    This results in over 63,000 per year.

    There is no cure for the common flu.
    We have vaccines, and natural immunities, but no cure.

    The problem with the Swine Flu, is that we have no vaccines, and seeing as how we've never encountered it, we have no natural immunity to the virus.

    Experts say that the Swine Flu is no worse than the regular flu, and it isn't to be compared to the black plague, or anything of the sort (like many news stations are trying to pretend it is).

    So why is the media making this such a big deal?
    Why is the media making such a point to bring it up?

    Because that means that you'll watch their station, read their article, listen to their podcast, etc.

    That's how they make money, kids.
    Welcome to the economy. :)

    Anyway, this thing really isn't a big deal. If you get it, go to the doctor, just to be safe. Experts say that your immune system should be able to fight it off without any antibiotics (just like the regular flu), but that you should go to the doctor anyway.

    This isn't a big deal.

    Bottom line:

    The Swine Flu is just a different type of flu, but that's still all it is.. The flu. Nothing more, nothing less. The flu has the capability to kill people (usually young children, and the elderly), but it barely affects us. Even if somebody at your school did have it (which they probably don't), and it was given to you.. guess what would happen? You'd get the flu, it'd suck, you'd get over it. End of story.

  8. around 7 days the symtoms will start appearing/attacking your body

    Started in Mexico by a gene of a sick pig going to another. Then farm workers started touching these pigs and they got it, and spread it.

    Wash your hands and sanitize then every hour. Also wash your hands after you cough/sneeze.

  10. hahaha, Kiss is most definitely not a good band. And their sexuality is a little suspect as well, no one should dress like that except for once a year (Halloween).

    But there’s nothing wrong with being gay.

  14. The symptoms of swine flu in people are expected to be similar to the symptoms of regular human seasonal influenza and include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people with swine flu also have reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

    If you are sick, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people as much as possible to keep from spreading your illness to others.

    If you become ill and experience any of the following warning signs, seek emergency medical care.

    In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

    * Fast breathing or trouble breathing
    * Bluish skin color
    * Not drinking enough fluids
    * Not waking up or not interacting
    * Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
    * Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
    * Fever with a rash

    In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

    * Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
    * Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
    * Sudden dizziness
    * Confusion
    * Severe or persistent vomiting

    Doctors will do a swab test to se if you have the flu. If you have Type A influenza the sample will be sent to the cdc to see if it is the swine flu.

  22. There are no particular symptoms that distinguish swine flu from other types of flu. Symtoms like diarrhea and vomiting are also associated with swine flu. Those symptoms can also be caused by many other conditions, and that means that you and your doctor can't know, just based on your symptoms.

    There is a similarity between the swine flu epidemic centered in Mexico City and the Spanish influenza epidemic of 1918-19. Infants and elderly were spared. It was the young adults with robust immune systems that were the prime victims and the disease took them literally by storm. What happens with young and healthy patients is that their immune systems react so strongly that they can triggers something known as a "cytokine storm".

    In response to every infection, the body has a number of ways to fight back against the invading enemy. Cytokines are part of this defense. The name "cytokine storm" basically describes an over-reaction of a healthy immune system that has over-reacted and is damaging the body, causing failure of multiple organ systems. It can be triggered by many things, including viruses, although it's not common for human influenza A virus strains to cause it. The same thing occurs with new swine flu virus and the body has no defenses built up. When infected the body's own defensive systems are triggered to a powerful extent and cause havoc to the immune system. It’s something like dropping an H-bomb on a suspected burglar in your back yard. The result is to kill, or needlessly harm, the patient

    In children the immune responses are still developing, while the elderly immune function tends to be weaker due to the aging process. Both groups have weak immune system that is why they are vulnerable to complications from the regular flu and tend to get pneumonia and other opportunistic infections after being weakened further by the regular flu. Fortunately, they don't have systems that react strongly to the flu itself that can generate the cytokine storm. However, the healthy approximately 15 to 60 year old individual the most likely to actually succumb to the swine flu.

    A cytokine storm can overcome the nervous system and cause breathing and internal organs problems, which is why hospitals put critical flu patients on assisted machines. What really frightens experts in the pandemic field is the fact that most hospitals only have a few of these facilities and they are often in use for surgical or other critical patients. There is simply no way to provide interim support for tens of thousands of pandemic flu victims, even in advanced countries with a strong hospital system. The equipment just doesn't exist to put them all on breathing machines until their bodies are able to recover naturally.

  28. start to improve your health eat 1-6 cloves of fresh choped garlic a day. sprinkle ground cinnamon on your cereal.

    Fresh garlic is the best natural antibiotic you can get.iv had abscess teeth for 15 years and IM still here.with garlic my colds usually last 1-2 days or less.

    drink lemon juice 1-2 teaspoons in 8 ounces of water [distilled] preferably.vinegar works the same but taste nasty.

    start slow on the garlic because your stomach isn't use to it.cut the clove in to small slices and scoop it onto a spoon and swish it down with a drink of water.if it burns to much drink a few mouth fulls of milk to cut the burn.

    iv done around 3 cloves of garlic for 6 years now
